Larry Beck

Larry Beck

Lawrence Alan Beck (b. December 12, 1950 - d. March 14, 2022) passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 14, 2022. He was the son of Jane Alterman Beck and Marvin C. Beck. A lifelong resident of San Antonio, he graduated from Alamo Heights High School and was an alumnus of the University of Virginia and the University of Texas School of Law.

Following in his father's footsteps, Larry began practicing law with the firm of Beck and Beck P.C. in 1976 and was board certified in business and consumer bankruptcy law. A fierce advocate for access to justice, Larry was recognized for his pro bono work in bankruptcy and civil rights cases.

Always the first to extend a hand, Larry left his front door unlocked and never turned away those in need. He was an avid cyclist, national park enthusiast, and 40-plus years Spurs season ticket holder. Larry enjoyed traveling in his camper van to visit friends across the country. He loved Maine and taking his rescue dog on road trips during the summer.

A wonderful listener with a dry sense of humor, Larry was a man of few words. When he did speak, his words were wise and thoughtful and his timing impeccable. A true friend, a brilliant attorney, and a loving family man, Larry was the steady voice of reason and a person to whom you could always turn. He is truly irreplaceable and will be sorely missed.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother and father and is survived by his sister Barbara (and Jeffrey) Moss, nephew Philip (and Julia) Moss, and many friends and extended family.

For those who wish to honor Larry's legacy, memorials may be made to Friends of Acadia National Park (https://friendsofacadia.org) or the charity of your choice.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 2:00pm, Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78212.
