Our Alamo Heights classmate William (Bill) Choate passed away last Sunday, September 22nd, in San Antonio.   I know that you will all join me in sending prayers to his wife Cyndi, daughter Ashlie, sister Julie, and grandchildren Jeremy, Hayden, and Adriana.  A memorial service will be held this Saturday, September 28th, 10:00AM, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East.

William (Bill) Leonard Choate, 61, of San Antonio passed away on September 22, 2013. Bill was preceded in death by his loving parents, Leonard F. and Laura Lucile Boone Choate. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Cyndi Choate; daughter, Ashlie Choate; and grandchildren, Jeremy, Hayden and Adriana. Bill is also survived by his sister, Julie Choate, of Devine, Texas. Bill was a 1973 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, and a 1969 graduate of Alamo Heights High School. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend and Christian. Bill had a distinguished career in the marketing, management and procurement fields. He retired from USAA, where he was instrumental in the development of USAA's first Direct Mail Merchandise Catalog, and held a number of other executive positions while there. Bill was also employed by Fox-Stanley Photo Products and Sears & Roebuck. He had many friends and never met a stranger. He always enjoyed accompanying his daughter and oldest grandson, Jeremy, on their school field trips. His passions were travel, photography, gardening, hiking, spending time with his family and all outdoors activities. Bill was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. Bill will be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. The family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciation to Drs. Edward Sargent and Benjamin Webb of San Antonio, Dr. Amy Hessel and Dr. Justin Sacks and Staff at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX.

Robert Halls

It is never easy losing classmates and friends even when you know that it may be near. But Bill's passing has taken me by surprise, and is especially painful. Condolences to your family, Bill. Go with God.
