James Ryan, Jr.

James Ryan, Jr.

James Michael "Jimbo" Ryan, also known as "Twig" to his classmates at Alamo Heights High School, was born on December 9, 1951 in Springfield, Missouri (although Jim wasn't born in Texas, he got here as fast as he could when his family moved here when he was 4).  He passed away on November 19, 2019 in Austin, Texas.  Jim graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1969, and received his  BBA from the University of Texas at Austin.  He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; his son, James Michael (Mack) Ryan III;  his sister, Sarah Ryan Carpenter; and his brother, Daniel Ryan.  There will be a Memorial Service held in Austin to honor Jim Ryan. It will take place on Sunday, December 1st, at 1:30 PM.  It will be held at the Riverbend Church, 4214 Capitol of Texas Highway, in the Plaza View Room. The service will be officiated by Pastor Gordon Smith. Flowers are welcome at the above address. Donations can also be made to the Texas Exes Association.  There will also be a "Celebration of Life Gathering" for Jim at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas  78752 (512)454-5611, on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM.  In addition, an Irish-ish Mexica Burger Wake will be held for Twig at Chris Madrid's, corner of Hollywood & Blanco in San Antonio. It will be held on Tuesday, December 10th, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.  The cost for this event is $15.00 per person.  Please RSVP by December 9th to Sarah Ryan Carpenter at scarplpc@gmail.com .

My sincere condolences to the family of James Ryan.  I was happy to see and say hello to him at the reunion.  May he rest in peace.

Life is messy. Three steps forward, one back, repeat. One can only do their level best and hope for a good outcome.  Brother Dick Brady and I stayed in touch w Jim, his sister and younger brother Dan. Jim was larger than life. A graduate of UT. A mainstay at every baseball game. A good guy. He will be missed.
