I used to be a counselor at a camp in Rockport for the mentally handicapped. Every summer during high school and college I would go there for a week and lifeguard. I made friends with a couple of campers, twins Karen and Sharon, and we became long-time friends long after I stopped working at the camp. Karen and Sharon had a party in San Antonio, can't remember what year, and I went and met Bill there and found out that he had taken my position at the camp. It was so good to see a person from high school. When I saw him on this website I was so shocked I called Karen and Sharon and they said he had been killed by a car while crossing Broadway. What a shock! So tragic. Bill was a great guy and really cared about those kids. I think I remember him telling me about some halfway houses he was running for the handicapped. I was always hoping that someday our paths would meet again. What a terrible loss.
