Tina Zuelzer (Potter-Cullum)

Ms. Christina "Tina" Potter-Cullum, age 70, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on May 27, 2021 with her daughter by her side. She was born on April 17, 1951, in Osaka, Japan to parents, Drs. Wilhelm Zuelzer and Margot (Bayer) Zuelzer.  Tina graduated from Alamo Heights High School in our Class of 1969.  She also attended The University of Texas at Austin where she earned a bachelor's degree in International Communications.  She applied her enthusiasm, intellect, and personal charm within accomplished careers.  She founded the Black Book of Houston in 1982 and later went on to be a leader at Berkeley Heart Labs and Quest Diagnostics.  Tina was known by her colleagues as bright and innovative, with long-range vision.

Christina had a loving, generous spirit and brilliant sense of humor. She was a devoted mother, loving daughter and sister, and loyal friend.  She never met a stranger and developed deep and caring connections with all those who had the pleasure and privilege to know her.  Tina loved her many friends and enjoyed numerous activities in her spare time. She was a member of Oak Hills Church, volunteered her time with SNIPSA, and dedicated her time and resources to helping those in need.  She enjoyed spending time with animals, traveling, walking, writing, and in bible study.  As a dear friend put it best, "she loved the world bigger than her size."

I am very sad to hear about Tina... Back in highschool, our senior year, I tutored Tina in Algebra. We had a lot of great fun during that time. Because of her kindness, she invited me to give a senior party with her group of friends, which I gladly accepted... My father did the security for our event at the Gunther Hotel... I did not hear much from her after we graduated but I did run into Tina at Boardwalk Bistro as Charlie and I had gone there for dinner and saw her there and at that time she was married to Jim Cullum... Of course, then we had the music in common as Charlie being in music knew Jim really well. The next time I saw her, she had become single.

We were supposed to keep in touch, but you know, our intentions may be to do that, but in reality, we can't ever seem to find the time. I had just thought about her the other day and today I received the email about her passing away. I will always carry her kindness to me in my heart.

May your memory be for a blessing sweetie. Love, Debbie
