Steven Ward Solsbery(1951 - 2018)

Steven Ward Solsbery died on Sunday, April 15 at the age of 67. Born March 12, 1951, a native of San Antonio, he was the oldest of three children and beloved by his parents Horace "Solly" and Hilda "Tillie" Tillotson Solsbery, by whom he is predeceased.

Steve was a joyful child who had a good heart, positive attitude, and honest sense of character. He was a patient big brother to his twin sisters Anne and Carol - teaching them to play sports and drive a stick shift - and was always a phone call away. Steve attended Alamo Heights High School and was a great golf player. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity, and he received his masters of finance from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Steve worked for Datapoint and was a real estate investor; he also served on the executive team for Ozelle Pharmaceuticals and was a past Salvation Army board member. He was lay reader at St. Luke's Episcopal Church and was involved with their Community of Hope group; Steve was also a member of the Town Club.

Throughout his 67 years, Steve exhibited kindness, creativity, a wonderful sense of humor, and an "everything will work out" attitude. His proudest role was as father to his only child Lauren Solsbery Sherwood, whom he loved dearly and thought had a special sparkle. Steve was also blessed with the love and loyalty of many lifelong friends, including honorary pallbearers Robert Bain, Mike Berler, Calhoun Bobbitt, Lukin T. Gilliland, Jr., Jackie Nahoum, Jimmy Norman, Gilland Price, TJ Small, Jamie Smith, Greg Waters, and Robert V. West.

He is survived by his daughter Lauren Solsbery Sherwood (Scott); sisters Anne Solsbery, and Carol Solsbery McGanity

(Peter); nieces Sara and Catherine McGanity; and the mother of his daughter, Betsy Brewer Chaffee. After recent years in decline, Steve is no longer in pain and was greeted loudly in heaven by his loving parents and grandparents.
